Sowerby already works closely with the Babcock Infrastructure Services HR team for all their recruitment requirements, so it was no surprise to be asked to help them launch their first ever Business Management Graduate Scheme.
As it was such a new scheme, we decided to promote a campaign to attract 'Superheroes', sourcing imagery of empty Superman suits, babies (it starts with a good mind!) sitting down having a 'meeting', and even abstract shots evoking 'expression', demonstrating 'fast-moving', 'dynamic', 'innovative', 'evolving'.
Then we had a change of direction - completely. A building blocks image was sourced and our studio team set to work 'inscribing' the blocks with the letters of 'BABCOCK', using the letters and creating descriptives about the company ethos/ideal individual. Client and agency worked on the ideas and wording promoting the importance of 'Get the foundation right, and we'll help build your career'. The ad copy written and the media selected, both off-line and on-line selected. Once the ad was designed and accepted by the client, it was placed in The Guardian newspaper and the Prospects e-magazine. Then it was the turn of our e-digital team to produce an interactive microsite using the same imagery and promoting the same 'look and feel' as that used for the press/online advertising. From there, we designed a 6-panelled curvy exhibition stand complete with lighting as well as promotional material to support Babcock's presence at a graduate recruitment exhibition.
The number of visits to the microsite far exceeded our expectations and the client was really happy with the response.

"Sowerby has provided a comprehensive Graduate Recruitment solution for our first venture into this area. They have designed our advertising campaign and advised of the best media to use, as well as designing and providing our flyers and exhibition stand. They were forward-thinking in their approach, creating/planning a design which can be used for a number of years, including publications for the 2008 intake.
As part of our Campaign, Sowerby suggested the use of a Microsite, which they designed and maintained for us. The Microsite has been very effective, enabling candidates to view our advert, apply online, attach a CV and even download our Company Newsletters.
The Sowerby team has been knowledgeable and professional throughout, advising the best methods for us and ensuring our needs were being met in full."
