Through the delivery of support and intervention services, and by speaking up on behalf of those who need them most, Spurgeons, a Northamptonshire based charity, gives vulnerable children and families the chance for a better future. Over the last year, they made a real difference to the lives of almost 3,000 children, young people and adults, and protected 1,200 from neglect, harm and abuse.
For us at The Sowerby Group,
it’s working with clients like this that make our jobs so special.
So when we were approached to find them a key member of their team, it was very heartening to know that our services were recommended by a firm of London Headhunters.
Spurgeons were looking for a special person to join them as their new Clerk to the Board who could also be central to the Executive Support Team. Through an advertising campaign, as well as approaching a number of recruitment agencies, Spurgeons’ search for the ideal candidate was unsuccessful.
The Sowerby Search & Find Service operates mainly in the charity sector – both faith-based and non-faith. Over the past three years, we have become the ‘go to’ place for HR and Hiring Teams to help find their ‘round peg, round hole’ candidates and we do this by not only taking a very incisive brief, but through working with the Hiring Teams, understanding the culture of their organisation, as well as the team itself so we have a better chance of finding the right candidate. Very often we may only put one or two candidates forward, but with a 95% success hiring record, clearly we have understood the requirements of the talent acquisition team. And this was the case with Spurgeons. We searched, we found, we conquered! Our new candidate accepted the role and even took time out of her current position to attend an important two-day organisational event. This ensured that, prior to starting her new position, she was offered a true insight into the organisation, its activities and in return she identified how she felt she could add real value.
